Light Gem power up are temporary power ups for the Professor's gadgets and these are Ball Gadget which takes eight light shards, invincibility which 24 light shards are needed and Super change power up that needs 40 light shards.Light shards are also needed to unlock secret areas in the game too. The power ups and abilities Spyro gets is from the elder dragons horn drive( destroys dark shards,) pole spin,(platforming with Spyro's tail,)wing shield( for blocking projectiles and wall climb. The mini games are objectives with Sgt Byrd, explore areas with Sparx also the same with Hunter and Blink the Mole, the last mini game is helping NPC (non playable characters) in the different realms. Using the allies besides Hunter is optional.If the player beats the mini games they get a dragon egg then a light shard if they complete the mini game for a second time. Each realm has ten dark shards per realm and every dark also has to be destroyed to progressive to the next realm and progess the game. The dragon eggs do not matter, but collecting a whole set the player unlocks concept arts skins for Spryo and mini games light shards are to power the Professor's gadgets and dark shards to clears the realms from Red's influence. To progress this game it is collecting items are needed. Other characters in this game are Professor who creates gadgets and Moneybags that sells items such as skeleton key's. The plot is Spyro and allies of Sgt Byrd,Sparx, Hunter and a new ally of Blink the Mole try to stop the dragon Red from taking over the realms. I not sure if it playable on newer systems. The cost for a copy of Spyro: A Hero's Tales for Classic Xbox, PlayStation 2 and Nintendo GameCube is nine to thirty-five dollars off the internet.
